Spreadsheet Validation Services

The issue.

The driving force for spreadsheetvalidation.com was clients needing to validate Excel spreadsheets and being unable to develop a justifiable approach to doing so. As a result ABB Engineering Services investigated the available options and developed an efficient and effective method to validate spreadsheets. To find out more download the Overview presentation.

The conclusion.

There are 101 ways to try to validate spreadsheets, but only ABB have the experience to advise on a pragmatic and workable solution for your unique situation. More information on the ABB Spreadsheet Validation Service.

The ABB approach to validating spreadsheets

Spreadsheet Validation essentially breaks into two separate projects. They are summarised in the following diagram (PDF - 82KB). For further information on the importance and explanation of this diagram download the Overview presentation.

  • The use of tools to make Excel secure and "validatable". For this you need DaCS™.
  • Validation of your individual spreadsheets.

The spreadsheet validation approach is very similar to validating other computer systems, however there is a critical need to ensure an efficient and repeatable process. You may have 10 spreadsheets, you may have 600, each one requires validating if deemed GxP critical.

The validation approach involves the following key stages.

The process uses a generic and repeatable approach, and the use of key tools and document sets, which allow the process to be both efficient and effective.

We can train you in the whole process. Everything you need in one training course, including all the generic documentation sets ready to use.
